Stand up proper!

Yup. Rolling up the spine is not something I teach in my classes.

What you’ll find instead is that I often say something like, “ground down through the feet with bent knees, inhaling and rising using the muscles in the front of the thighs to lift all the way up”.

Certainly there is an emphasis on pressure through the feet, and engaging the muscles in the trunk – front and back – to enable the upward lifting action. You may well be asked to put your hands on your hips too, before coming up, depending on the sequence!

Have a look at the safe lifting technique as an addition at the end of the article. That’s more my method.

Ciao for now!
